Team Fortress 2 Sniper Guide

January 31, 2008

When killing from afar, you can always enjoy laughing at the unsuspecting enemies running around in strange patterns, trying not to become your next target. Snipers tend to cause a lot of hysteria in enemies, and for a good reason too: Snipers are deadly. Every bullet that you shoot can deal tremendous amounts of damage to enemies, and often kill them in one hit. Read more

Team Fortress 2 Demoman Guide

January 28, 2008

The Demoman is the explosives expert in Team Fortress 2, which makes him excellent for anyone wanting the joy of blowing things up, and a good choice as an all around character. His Grenades and Sticky Bombs make him able to defeat countless enemies from across the map, and the only real negative is that he’s capable of accidentally killing himself faster than anyone else. The Fancy Pants Adventure: World 2 Review

January 27, 2008

The Fancy Pants Adventure: World 2 is the sequel to the incredibly popular Fancy Pants Adventure (go figure). It features the fast paced action of classical games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros., complete with all the running, jumping, climbing and sliding you could ask for. The game starts out with a simple story that involves a golf trophy stolen by an evil rabbit, which the creator himself states is simply there so there’s a point to the game. Don’t let the paltry story fool you though, FPA2 features the best 2D Platforming experience since the glory days of the SNES and Genesis. The controls are simple: arrows to move, S to jump, space to pause. The levels consist of having to use different types of jumps with the environment in order to reach the next area, and progress towards the end. The environment has various elements that change game play and let you reach new areas, such as spring jumps, bumblebees and ropes. The game has a smooth pace, and it always seems as if there’s some new challenge every time you play a level: like when you realize that what you thought was a dead end can be used as a wall jump to reach different secrets. The game has a polished finish, but sometimes it can be tricky to navigate the levels, resulting in a bit of frustrating, albeit rewarding, backtracking. If you enjoy platforming games, then The Fancy Pants Adventure: World 2 is highly recommended.

January 16, 2008

The Engineer is the primary defense class of Team Fortress 2. He is armed with the ability to create powerful Sentry Guns, useful Dispensers that give health and ammo to teammates, and teleporters that quickly move your team across the map. He is lightly armed and has low health points, but no one can take him on when he’s behind a heavily fortified turret. Read more

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:Shadow of Chernobyl Review

January 13, 2008

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:Shadow of Chernobyl is the latest game from the Ukrainian developer GSC Game World. Stalker has been in development for 6 years, and it could have benefited from another 6 months. Although the game was released almost nine months ago, it was very unstable, and had various bugs and glitches. Recently, there have been several patches released to fix those problems, making it a much more entertaining game, instead of a constant annoyance. I waited for these patches to be released before I reviewed this game, because otherwise I would have given it a very poor rating. Read more

Command and Conquer 3 Review

January 13, 2008

Command and Conquer 3 is the almost 8 years in the making sequel to 1999’s Tiberian Sun. While I personally would have preferred for EA to make Red Alert 3, I guess that this game can hold me over. It maintains all the control, game play, and storyline as the previous games, and has several improvements to make it a fun game. Read more

Bioshock Review

January 13, 2008

Bioshock is the heavily anticipated successor to System Shock 2, and it manages to live up to the hype. Now while Bioshock is an incredibly good game, and it has everything that a good shooter needs, it still feels incomplete. Maybe it’s just my habit of nitpicking everything, but it seems as if things like inventory management, balance, and a flashlight would have severely improved the game. Although, despite those issues, I would still say that Bioshock is a great game, and a recommended buy, it’s just that that its not everything that it was promised to be. Read more
